Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (20 oz) container refrigerated or frozen cheese tortellini
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 (24 oz) jar pasta sauce
  • 8 oz cream cheese, cubed
  • 1–2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated or shredded Parmesan cheese
  • Seasoning to taste

Suggested seasonings: Salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and Italian seasoning.

Instructions

  1. Cook the tortellini. Cook the tortellini al dente according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the oven and dish. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9 × 13-inch baking dish.
  3. Brown the ground beef. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with your preferred seasonings. Salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and Italian seasoning are suggested options.
  4. Make the meat sauce. Remove the excess grease from the browned beef. Stir in the pasta sauce and cubed cream cheese. Simmer for a few minutes until the sauce is well incorporated.
  5. Assemble the casserole. Gently toss the cooked tortellini with the sauce mixture. Pour everything into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan evenly over the top.
  6. Bake. Bake uncovered on the center rack for about 20 minutes.
  7. Brown the cheese. Switch the oven to broil and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes, or until the cheese starts to brown.
  8. Serve. Enjoy on its own or serve with a side of salad, vegetables, or garlic bread.
